The untold story of casual hookups & casual sex dating cultures online

Hookup culture is a  passably new term for a  passably new situation. The modern world offers an unknown amount of opportunities for different relationships and casual hookups that ignite people to experience their sensuality and relationship choices without  committing to traditional variants, such as becoming engaged or married. Nowadays, people can hook up and date so openly, without facing blackballing, without the fear of judgment. Still, hookup culture offers a new type of freedom, so it's worth some exploring a little more. Here are some fascinating facts about hookup culture.

Hookup culture began a while back

Even though hookup culture is reaching new peak today, it began a while back. Although hook ups were probably always happening throughout human history, the twenties supplied more opportunities for it to happen. Young guys suddenly had more chances to connect without being supervised, by going to a movie theater, for example. So, it was in the twenties that the seeds for modern hookup culture appeared.

In the sixties, the sexual revolution happened, influencing the attitudes that people had on  lovemaking. Hookups no longer seemed as certainly related to marriage or long term relationships, and affairs outside of marriage became socially granted.

Bad relationships are worst than bad hookups

While a bad hookup can be far worse, it usually stays a casual affair, of course, not mentioning to situations of violence or assault. However, a characteristic of a hookup is that it usually is occasional and doesn't influence the partners to commit to anything they do not want. If the hookup did not go right, it's unlikely it will go beyond that. However, a relationship is something that lasts longer. So, any bad natures or problems are lay out over time and repeated. A bad hookup may be the cause of acute stress situation, but a bad relationship turns to chronic stress and depression.

Not everyone is into hookup culture

While more than 90% of university  students report that they think over 90% of their peers participate  in hookups, this usually doesn't indicate the truth. Hookup culture is very present and very much an option, but not everyone chooses to engage in it. Studies shows that about one third of students do not participate in hookups, about 20% are regularly engaging in it and the rest do so on occasion. So, hookup culture is a reality, and most people on university campuses prefer to engaged in it. However, it's not yet a universal reality.
